Today, I had the pleasure of giving a guest lecture about digital twins at McGill University (albeit in a virtual setting) in Marie-Jose Montpetit‘s course on Dynamic Supply Networks Data Analytics.
Driven by predictive analytics and forecasting, as well as prescriptive analytics using optimization and simulation, modern supply chains are highly dynamic, more performant and resilient. These traits allow for improved shipment transparency, visibility, and operational efficiency. In the age of fierce economic competition amid global disruptions, the ability to act quick is paramount. Digital twins fit this role particularly well as they bring complex analytics models to life, providing means to monitor and control supply chains at near real-time.
