I had the pleasure to discuss this important topic with renowned colleagues at the 6th ACM/IEEE International Conference on Automation of Software Test (AST 2025). It was encouraging to see such a diverse set of computing professionals converge to a shared point.
My key takeaway: we need to enable future decision-makers (revise curricula!) and current decision-makers (consult!), and we need to act in our local scope (promote engineering-level notions of sustainability and develop supporting automation!). I really appreciated the opportunity to bring this important topic to the audience of the conference.
