Our graduate lab member Baran Shajari just got her paper on Minimizing Inconsistency in Pairwise Comparison Matrices Using Genetic Algorithm, co-authored Atiyeh Sayadi (PhD student at McMaster University) and Ryszard Janicki (Professor at McMaster University) accepted for the 59th Annual Conference on Information Sciences and Systems (CISS).
In this work, Baran and her co-authors introduce a novel approach to reduce inconsistencies in pairwise comparison matrices using a genetic algorithm. The method applies a distance-based inconsistency index as the fitness function within an evolutionary process. The algorithm is particularly efficient on smaller matrices, which quickly become consistent in just a few generations; but scales appropriately to larger matrices as well.
Congratulations to Baran on her publication.
